It has been said that “life is not a bed of roses with all beauty and no thorns”. I love the beauty of the rose and the many colors produced on the different bushes. I love the beauty of the life that reflects the beauty of the rose, that is, the life that reflects beauty in how it is being lived in a godly way.

How does one live a life of beauty? It does not come as a result of there being no thorns or difficult circumstances along the way, but rather because there are such.

The apostle Paul wrote a passage in his book to the Corinthian believers words like this:

1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation (trial) taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation (trial) also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”

Different circumstances, trials or difficulties that come into our lives are not just by accident. God is in control of all things and is in control of our lives “if” and “as” we submit to Him and His authority. We either allow Him to control our thoughts and actions or we don’t. When we make right choices and allow His truth to guide us through difficulties of life, He will make a way of escape, a way to go through them(for we are never alone), and supply grace for every situation. We do not have to understand the ‘why’ of events. We do what He directs us to do through His Word, prayer and complete trust or we remain miserable and ever wondering “what can I do?” So, God gives us the answer in Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
