In the Old Testament, in the days of EZRA, in the book of Nehemiah chapter 8, the scripture says that when “Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people;…all the people stood up:”
Now we know that Ezra did not have a copy of the Bible in his hand as we have available to us today, but he had a ‘book’ that contained the ‘Word’ of God, and they had such awe and such respect for it that Ezra did not have to say, ‘now in honor of the Word of God, let us stand….’, no, they automatically stood on their own because of the respect for the Word.
How much respect do we have for the Word of God, the BIBLE, today? What does our life show to unbelievers about what we believe or profess to believe.
Our lives are an open book of what we do or do not believe. Our testimony is more than what we say verbally, it reveals the reality of the heart in action.
The Word of God is God speaking to man-kind. It is God’s directions for living a life that is meaningful and honoring to our Creator, and to the One who gave His life on Calvary for us to have a happy and peaceful life. That can only be found in Him, and our lives, as believers, should always reflect that relationship in all that may come our way.
If we respond to circumstances in the same way as the world(unbeliever), then what are we telling the lost about our God? The Scripture says this: 1 John 4:4 “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”
